We have a lovely litter of 5 puppies ... 1 black males, 3 yellow males and 1
yellow female. Morgan's a trooper and excellent mama; all are doing well.
I did this breeding primarily to produce some of the best temperaments one could
hope to find ... high intelligence, calm, congenial, loving dogs with high
focus, trainability and desire to please, and outstanding noses and
working/retrieving ability. They should make the ultimate in companion
dogs, service/therapy dogs; also hunting, drug detection and search and rescue.
What more could you ask for in a dog? I also hoped to get something from
Jack for myself, since I don't have any of his kids and he's such a special dog
in so many respects. I do have Elmer (and Will and Cuinlan on co-own) from
Morgan. Jack is 10 years old now, still with fantastic semen! Morgan
will be 8 in December, also very special to me. Thus this breeding with
two wonderful older dogs.
I expect beautiful Labradors but not show prospects. Jack is the
older-style, moderate, big Labrador ... not what is winning these days in the
ring. But, he is very much like his famous daddy, and is champion pointed
under some respected older judges. If Morgan puts her additional
substance, strong rear and angulation on the pups, we could have show prospects
... but that was not the purpose of this particular breeding. Jack is
still in excellent shape, still moves beautifully and fluidly. He, and his
mama and littermates and kids, are some of the most wonderful family companions
one could ever hope to live with. He has done therapy visits to ICU and
nursing homes. Jack's kids have been very much like him (in looks and
temperament), and he has produced fantastic hunting dogs no matter to whom he
was bred.
Morgan has a special, unique personality, very gentle and focused ... and
produces those qualities. Her daddy was the first Labrador in breed
history to have both a show championship
AND Master Hunt title in two
countries, so you might expect her to have the outstanding nose that she has.
One of her littermates has his Senior Hunt title (owner handled) and a son,
Will, has his Junior Hunt title. Morgan is a natural tracking dog, should
be doing search and rescue. Morgan's son, Elmer, has become a very special
soul mate to me. He started visiting nursing homes at 10 weeks of age,
also has 4 majors in conformation. (See him under The Boys.)
