This is a repeat breeding of the
2003 litter where we got exceptional intelligence, trainability, cooperative, loving temperaments for wonderful
family companions. Pups will have proper type, could be nice show
prospects, and I'd almost bet my life on strong prospects for obedience and
agility competition and even AKC hunt tests! One puppy from last year
brought in 11 ducks at 5 months of age.
"Jack" is one of the happiest, most congenial, cooperative dogs I've
ever seen ... nothing shakes him, he takes life in stride with a smile. A
real attentive, gentle lover boy too! Strong, competitive retriever, he
usually beats out all the others on land or water. Jack's a big dog,
pushing the max of the breed standard, with a gorgeous head, expression and
frontpiece. With the couple bitches he's been bred to, he consistently
produces his outstanding head and frontpiece and personality. Dam is a pretty,
smaller female with good substance,
nice angles, lots of rear, feminine head and expression, and
a cute, loving, disposition. Mable has great retrieving
instincts and we rarely see her without a bone or ball in her mouth!
I've been very impressed with pups from Mable's previous litters ... very smart, cooperative, quick learners ...
with the courage to take off
swimming and instinctively retrieving at 8-9 weeks of age!

UPDATE:
Unfortunately, Mable whelped 6 puppies starting on May 2, and only 3 survived. We encountered several quirks of nature where pups were born dead or couldn't have survived; then the 6th puppy was born 28-30 hours later. A very sad experience but Mable and the surviving three are doing fine. We have one black male, one yellow male and one black female, big puppies from 19.25-20 ounces at birth! The black female "Peach Girl" is a doll but, instead of solid black, has coloring occasionally seen in Labs called "black and tan". I've never seen it before, and it is considered a mis-mark; but actually it's very pretty and certainly makes her unique!
