Tealwood is really excited about
this litter and expect some outstanding black and yellow puppies with proper type and temperament, i.e., great calm, intelligent family companions and potential show prospects. Both
parents are OFA good on hips, OFA elbows normal, eyes CERF'ed annually, and there are no known
incidents of epilepsy, allergies, or cardiac problems in the pedigree. Grandparents are all OFA certified good or excellent on hips, elbows normal and
eyes cleared.
Sire, Tony, is an outstanding showman with a wonderful congenial
temperament. He won Best of Breed at the prestigious Westminster in 1997,
was the #1 Lab in the US in 1997 and 1998, and has multiple Best in Show wins
and Group wins ... and is a champion producer. Dam, Molly, is a lovely
girl with beautiful head and expression, great coat, nice angles and a sweet,
playful, very affectionate nature. She also excels in retrieving
enthusiasm and produces this quality in all her pups.
Puppies will be available to approved show and/or pet homes and select breeders, although I plan to keep one or two for myself. UPDATE: What a litter!!! In a 22-hour whelping, Molly produced a whopping 12 puppies! After the first 11 pups (which was my guess considering how HUGE she was), it appeared she was finally done. I cleaned up the bedding, walked Molly and gave her some warm powdered milk and honey, then some dogfood a couple hours later. I was finally going to get some rest on the couch and keep an eye on her and the pups when she started contractions again. A full 5 hours after Puppy #11, I pulled another black female, alive and well! Amazingly, this puppy fulfilled a perfect mix of puppies, ending up with 3 yellow males, 3 yellow females, 3 black males and 3 black females. I'm still in shock at the size of this litter and the fact that all are healthy and doing well, didn't lose a one! We're bottle-feeding a supplement to be sure that all pups are getting plenty as a precautionary measure but all are gaining steadily at day 4.
