(See below for link to Pedigree)

I'm looking forward to this breeding, my second litter using the almost 25-year-old frozen semen from the great "Mandigo" who died in 1986 ... a legend in the history of American Labrador Retrievers.  My first Mandigo litter was born in January 2002 out of Emma's mama, Summer, and produced some lovely puppies with outstanding pigment and wonderful attitudes.  (See the Mandigo/Summer litter under "Previous Litters", also Elliot and Madelaine, the two puppies I kept for myself, under "The Girls" and "The Boys".)

I expect an all yellow litter that will carry a very impressive pedigree both for show and field, and possess the calm, loving temperament that makes such great family companions.  Emma's prelims on hips and elbows taken at 21 months looked very good and her eyes were CERF'ed in 5/02.  Emma's mama Summer and granddaddy Gator are both rated "excellent" on hips as well as cleared on elbows.  Mandigo hips were OFA good and eyes CERF'ed.  (Hip clearances were not rated and elbows were not x-rayed and certified back in the 1970's and 1980's when Mandigo was alive.)

Mandigo was one of the most beautiful, "correct", all-purpose Labs in history of the breed.  In addition to Best in Specialty Show wins, he was an American, Canadian, Mexican, and International Champion and 1978 World Champion in the confirmation ring.  His intelligence, trainability and hunting ability was proven by an AKC Obedience title and Advanced Working Certificate in the field.  He possessed that hard-to-describe thing I call "style" and "regal" attitude.  Mandigo was very prepotent in passing along his superior qualities to his get and was a top producer of many champions including his famous son, BISS Ch. Charisma's Lone Star Rick, who was and still is the top winning show dog in the history of the breed.  Emma is a lovely girl with a gorgeous head and expression, outstanding pigment, good substance, particularly good rear quarters, a sweet, loving disposition and strong retrieving/hunting instincts. Her granddaddy "Gator" obtained his Hunting Retriever title in 3 consecutive tests and his Hunting Retriever Championship title in 4 consecutive tests ... both at under 18 months of age, then went on to Junior Hunter title and Grand Hunting Retriever Champion.

Keep in mind when viewing pictures of dogs in Mandigo's pedigree that many of his famous ancestors lived back in the 1940's, 50's, 60's and 70's when the winning "type" was much leaner and geared toward true working dogs.  When crossed with our modern-day bitches with more substance and bone, the Mandigo semen has produced some wonderful all-purpose dogs.

Puppies will be available to approved show and/or pet homes and select breeders. Currently taking deposits. If interested, please e-mail inquiry, including a synopsis of what type of puppy you are looking for, your lifestyle, facilities and purpose and plans for acquiring a dog, or call 715-643-7313.

All puppies guaranteed, well socialized, vaccinated, de-wormed, dew claws removed.

UPDATE:

Emma whelped 6 cute little puppies January 3 ... a couple days early.  The following morning, she accidentally laid on one male, leaving us with 3 females and 2 males.  Pups were small but strong and all are gaining and doing well.
