BISS Amer, Can, Mex, 1978 World & Int'l Ch. Franklin's Golden Mandigo, CD, WCX x Mandigo's Summer Legacy (champion pointed) Sire: OFA hips, Eyes CERF Dam: OFA hips excellent, OFA elbows, CERF 2000 (See below for link to Pedigree) Tealwood is very excited about this breeding and feel honored to have the opportunity to use 25-year-old frozen semen from the great "Mandigo" who died in 1986 ... a legend in the history of American Labrador Retrievers. We expect an all yellow litter that will carry a very impressive pedigree both for show and field, and possess the calm, loving temperament that makes such great family companions. Both parents have certifications on hips and eyes. The mama, Summer, also has OFA certified elbows and she and her daddy are rated "excellent" on hips. (Hip clearances were not rated and elbows were not x-rayed and certified back in the 1970's and 1980's when Mandigo was alive.) There are no known incidents of epilepsy, allergies, or cardiac problems in the pedigree. Mandigo was one of the most beautiful, all-purpose Labs in history of the breed. In addition to Best in Specialty Show wins, he was an American, Canadian, Mexican, and International Champion and 1978 World Champion in the confirmation ring. His intelligence, trainability and hunting ability was proven by an AKC Obedience title and Advanced Working Certificate in the field. He possessed that hard-to-describe thing I call "style" and "regal" attitude. Mandigo was very prepotent in passing along his superior qualities to his get and was a top producer of many champions including his son, BISS Ch. Charisma's Lone Star Rick, who was and still is the top winning show dog in the history of the breed. Summer is a lovely girl with good substance, coat, pretty feminine head and expression, and a loving, playful disposition. She contributes high intelligence and strong natural instincts to this breeding; her daddy "Gator" obtained his Hunting Retriever title in 3 consecutive tests and his Hunting Retriever Championship title in 4 consecutive tests ... both at under 18 months of age. (She produced an outstanding litter sired by Chablais Rhapsodie En Bleu in January 2001; see pictures under "Previous Litters".) Keep in mind when viewing pictures of dogs in Mandigo's pedigree that many of his famous ancestors lived back in the 1940's, 50's, 60's and 70's when the winning "type" was much leaner and geared toward true working dogs. Thank you, Laurell Hand, Mandigo Retrievers, for allowing me this opportunity to use your "Mandigo"! And thank you, Pat Cobb, Legacy Labrador Retrievers, for letting me have Summer! Puppies will be available to approved show and/or pet homes and select breeders. Currently taking deposits. If interested, please e-mail inquiry, including a synopsis of what type of puppy you are looking for, your lifestyle, facilities and purpose and plans for acquiring a dog, or call 715-643-7313. It was an easy whelping, all puppies strong and healthy and doing well. Summer is a wonderful mama and finally getting her appetite back!
