This will be a nice line breeding doubling up on the top producer Ch. Tabatha's Drifter at Dickendall who is Bond's sire and Karina's grand-sire. Bond is a beautiful yellow dog with lots of bone and coat, beautiful head/expression, good angles, very nice movement and great temperament. He has had an impressive show career taking Best of Opposite Sex in Sweeps at the 1998 Miami Valley Specialty, Winners Dog at the 1998 Labrador Retriever Club National Specialty, and Best of Breed at the 2000 Winnebago Specialty and is a producer of many champions. Karina is a lovely black bitch with a beautiful typy head and frontpiece, excellent correct blue-black coat, good topline and tailset; she has high intelligence, a very calm, loving temperament, wonderful with children and babies, and tremendous enthusiasm for retrieving and swimming. She'd rather do that, or snuggle with someone, than go to dogshows!
I expect some nice show prospects from this breeding, happy, loving temperaments for wonderful family companions, and pups that could successfully do obedience and/or agility. With Karina's strong retrieving/hunting instincts and several Junior and Senior AKC Hunting titles on the sire's side, they should also have potential for hunting and/or AKC hunting titles.
UPDATE:
Karina whelped a beautiful but surprising litter ... two full days early and ALL yellow puppies; it brought back memories of when Karina's great-grandma Hilary (who also was black as the ace of spades) surprised me with an all-yellow litter. It honestly looks like these blacks are surrogate mamas to someone else's litter. In spite of the fact that it's disappointing to me (who wanted a gorgeous black male from this specific breeding), and to several others who wanted blacks, we have an absolutely gorgeous litter of six big puppies, three males and three females. They have tremendous bone and substance, tails almost as thick as they are long, nice heads, lots of coat; color varies from very light to beautiful golden tones ... all doing well at one week. I will continue updating pictures as the puppies grow up so check back often.
