Because we have SO many puppies, I started feeding the puppies at 2 1/2 weeks (as soon as I thought they could eat out of a pan) instead of the normal 3 weeks.  I also have been bottle feeding some of the smaller puppies twice a day since birth to be sure they're getting enough.  They're weighed every 24 hours, calculating their weight gain as a % of their original birth weight.  All are doing fine and now, by 4 weeks, I no longer have to bottle feed anyone ... the smaller ones are very aggressive eaters and catching up!  By 3 1/2 weeks, 11 puppies no longer fit around one large flying saucer feeding pan, so I have to divide them into 2 separate pans and monitor that all get a place at "the table".  And, as you may imagine, it's MUCH more work to keep the whelping box reasonably clean with the equivalent of 2 litters in there.  And 198 nails to clip every week to 10 days!

Puppies are enjoying getting out of the whelping box and running around the whelping room, exploring and playing with different toys.  By 5+ weeks, they'll move to the puppy kennel where they'll have more room to romp, learn to use the doggy door and have time in the grassy puppy yard and playground equipment.

Sorry I've been slow in getting pictures up the last couple weeks but I've been very busy with caring for the puppies, dogs ... made more difficult with the sweltering heat we've had.  And I've also had personal obligations to my elderly parents and their health problems.   So bear with me ... and enjoy the pictures!
