I'm expecting some very versatile, sound, typy puppies for show prospects, hunting, obedience, agility or service dogs. And wonderful temperaments for family companions.
Emma is OFA excellent on hips, OFA elbows, OFA cardiac normal, her eyes are CERF'ed annually and she is Optigen tested "Normal/Clear" for PRA. Emma's mama and granddaddy are both rated "excellent" on hips as well as cleared on elbows. Saffron is OFA good on hips, OFA elbows, OFA cardiac, eyes CERF'ed at 7 weeks and annually, and Optigen tested "A1" clear of PRA. With both parents Optigen "Normal", all puppies from this litter will be "Normal" by parentage.
Saffron is a lovely young dog with correct structure, balance and wonderful temperament. He has an outstanding pedigree, a son of the outstanding producer and multi Best in Specialty Show winner Ch. Valleywood Blackthorn Brier, and going back to Dickendall Arnold, Carromer and Sandylands breeding. On his bottom side, he's a grandson of multi Best in Show and Best in Specialty Show winner Tormentil Labradale Primetime ("Sage"), going back to Carromer's Charlie Chalk and some of the best of the Chablais line (which we're line-breeding on with Emma).
Emma is a lovely girl with a gorgeous head and expression, outstanding pigment, good substance, particularly good rear quarters, a sweet, loving disposition and strong retrieving/hunting instincts. She's AKC champion pointed with only a few times in the ring and hope to start training for a JH next year as well as return to the showring. Her granddaddy "Gator" obtained his Hunting Retriever title in 3 consecutive tests and his Hunting Retriever Championship title in 4 consecutive tests ... both at under 18 months of age, then went on to Junior Hunter title and Grand Hunting Retriever Champion. These should be strong dual-purpose, very intelligent puppies! You can look at some of Emma's beautiful kids, Lily, Morgan, and Clarice under "The Girls" and Gizmo under "The Boys". UPDATE:
Emma whelped in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, October 30. There were 7 puppies but unfortunately 2 were stillborn and I couldn't revive. But we have 5 beautiful puppies, 3 yellow females, 2 yellow males. All are strong, content and gaining well.
All puppies cleared eye exams by board certified ophthalmologist at 7 weeks and cleared board certified cardiac exams at 8 weeks. All are also Optigen Normal/Clear by parentage.
